Train-the-Trainer

This training will prepare individuals to become trainers of “Trauma Informed Care” workshops. Trauma Informed Care is an organizational structure and treatment framework training that involves understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma. TIC also emphasizes physical, psychological and emotional safety for both consumers and providers, and helps survivors rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.

Ideal applicants for this train the trainer training include persons who are active in their community, have experience in the field of trauma-informed care, disaster behavioral health response and recovery, and experience in providing training and/or successful presentations. Therefore, you must meet at least one of the following criteria and be able to provide supporting documentation with your application.

  1. 3 years of experience including an educational background in trauma-informed care and/or delivering trauma-specific services
  2. Certified as a peer support specialist with lived experience of trauma, and/or disaster response and/or recovery
  3. First responder, education, or faith-based personnel
  4. Have conducted at least 40 hours of professional training, on subjects related to trauma-informed care and/or disaster response and/or disaster recovery

Once your application and all supporting documents have been uploaded to your STORM account, your application will be reviewed and you will be notified via an email if you are accepted to be a participant in the workshop. Please note that acceptance is not guaranteed so do not make travel arrangements until you receive your acceptance email.

This training provides 10 hours of Continuing Education Credits for the following licenses: Psychologist, Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, Chemical Dependency Counselor, Peer Specialist, Supported Employment Specialist and Certified Family Partner. Upon successful completion of the training, you must complete an evaluation to receive any applicable certificates.
